For the Pastry Dough
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup cold unsalted butter (cubed)
- 6–8 tablespoons ice-cold water
For the Filling
- ¾ cup strawberry jam (or any fruit jam of choice)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thicker filling)
For the Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
Add cold butter and cut it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add ice water until dough comes together.
Divide dough into two disks, wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Roll out dough and cut into equal rectangles.
Place jam in the center of half the rectangles.
Cover with remaining rectangles and seal edges using a fork.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake for 22–25 minutes until golden brown.
Cool completely before glazing.
Mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled pop tarts.
